2005-09-17 [Forever Equine]: Divided Soul it's started as the foreward to a much larger story but I don't think I really like it. I'll more than likely change it again, for like the 3rd time.=)
2005-09-17 [Trennas]: cha, the pain with short stories is that you cant put too much in it.. I mean, the majority of authors can write large stories with many plottwists, but keeping things small and simple is almost an artform itself :)

2005-09-18 [Vesthrix]: I hear you, this is the first time I tried to write a short story. I liked it, however. Keeping it at 2500 words or less made me edit more and thus improving the writing. My story is a little random though for the same reason.

2005-09-18 [thoughtfox]: Precisely. I don't see what the big fuss is - writing a novel is harder than writing a short-story. A short story just has to have a lot of punch - if you can cram those 2500 words with energy, it'll work. To write a novel you have to coordinate the plot carefully and make sure the energy stays up. And you have to be careful not to have too many throw-away words, as [Vesthrix] said.
2005-09-18 [Trennas]: I dont know about which one is harder.. think it's a bit of an irrelevant remark as well, since you cant measure it.. a novel is more work though, but not harder per se..

It could of course be only a starting character - to guide or just influence the others towards whatever. And a dwarf can mean a lot of different things, not necessarily a Tolkein-style dwarf ;) We want to see what you can come up with :)

I believe you said yourself some comments back that you wouldn't have the time to host another prose contest for a while anyway.

The same people don't have to run the same contests every time they are re-opened. And after the way the last contest was handled, well, I should personally hope not. We are planning to look for more judges for this current one, so let me know if you're interested. But the judging is NOT going to take 3 months this time around - hence the 'subject to change' above.

And I and the council can't really know who's fault it was, due to not being informed in the slightest about your judging process. Again, if you want to help out judging, let me know. If you want to enter, do so. If neither, stop making a nuisance of yourself. If you want to host a future prose contest, come up with an idea, and it'll be considered in time.
